We arrived in Bangkok. The flight was just over an hour and very uneventful. We exited immigration and customs so easy! Thank goodnes Air Asia did not make us check our bags. The stranges thing Air Asia did was make me sign a waiver for being pregnant and flying. Had we been 3 weeks later in my pregnancy, I would have had to have a doctors letter stating how far along I was. At each point, check in, waiting at the gate, boarding and then while seated I was asked if I singed the waiver. It is a pretty standard liability clause. The strange thing is that I would have to reimburse them for any extra costs due to any medical complications while flying.
Once we got out of the airport we exchanged money and began to find our way to the hotel. We did not plan the airport to hotel part very well. We kind f wing it each stop. Today we took a bus and then the subway and then a taxi. Oh well- we are learning along the way and we seem to make our destinations.
We met a very nice man on the airport bus. He helped us know when to get off the bus. It barely stops long enough for people to get off. I stepped off, I was last to get off and it started to move before I ha two feet on the ground. The nice man guided us through the subway station. Told the ticket taker where we needed to get off so we had the right fare paid for and then sat on the metro train with us. He lives in Bangkok, but has a farm up north and travels by plane once a month to his farm. He was so kind to help us find our way! We then caught a taxi. The taxi probably ripped us off- he turned the meter off and charged us 100bought. But that was less than $4. We only had to go a few blocks, but with luggage, tired feet and your hungry- one block seems like forever.
After about an hour travel by bus and metro and taxi we finally arrived at Galeria 10 hotel.
It is a very nice and swanky hotel. Totally hip. It has a very young crowd staying here and has a great atmosphere.
We turned right around from our hotel and headed out to eat. We walke a few blocks and found a Mexican restaurant. I was totally wanting more American food- kind of tired of Asian food.
We have horrible Mexican food options in Okinawa. So how bad could this place be- right. OMG this is the best Mexican food I have had- not home cooked- outside Texas. We had tacos- so good! We over ate, but it was well worth it.
We returned home and promptly went to bed! "One night in Bangkok!"
