Today we did not have much planned because we wanted to relax a bit, rest and we were also flying out at 5pm. So we woke at our leisure, had breakfast at the hotel, packed our bags, and checked out.
Trip- Advisor led us wrong. First time though- this place was nothing special. We got to see a bunch o turtles.

Afterwards we walked the streets looking for something to drink. We were not in a nice part of town. We walked and walked and walked. Finally Bill hailed a cab and we headed towards Ben Than Market.
We needed to pick up a few souvenirs.
I should have taken a picture of the market. They sold everything here, trinkets to coffee to raw meat. It was very interesting to wonder through. Bill got his shot glass and we picked up something to remember Ho Chi Minh. Afterwards Bill wanted to kill the next three hours with as much culture as he could.
The road surrounding the market was very busy. And i am always hesitant to cross the street. We were approached by a very old lady, about 4.3ft tall, weighing no more than 70lbs. She shouted, "Walk!". So we followed. We walked straight into on-coming traffic. She waved her hands at the motor bikes and shouted at them. They did not honk, they slowed down and we got across safely. I was escorted across the street by a little old lady. It was a priceless experience. We walked the streets to see what we could see. We went back to The Independence Palace. He wanted one more photo of the living quarters. It is clearly run down and there are no guards. But there are signs that say no photos. So what does my husband do, walk straight up to the building and take a photos. I had visions of us being hauled off to a Vietnam prison. But nothing happened, no one said anything.
We walked a little further and came across a museum. My husband promised lunch inside, but we had to tour first. I always fall for that trick. It was a very interesting museum with lots of culture background of Vietnam.
I had to post a picture o the power lines. On our many walks, this is what was at evey corner
Seems safe- huh!?!
After the museum we walked to lunch at Noc Hanh Ngon. Another tasty Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered a lemon soda- it was fresh lemons, squeezed into a glass with sugar and a club soda poured on top. It was quite good- but I believe that was a science experiment that someone did in my class. For lunch I had fried yellow noodles with veggies and Bill had a noodle soup- no Pho, but very similar. For desert we had fried banana with coconut cream dipping sauce. So good!
We only had about $3.00 left so we had to talk home to the hotel. We gathered out belongings and took a cab to the airport. We were leaving right on time. Good-bye Vietnam, hello Bangkok, Thailand!
