Day #13- Flight 7 Chiang Mai to Kulala Lumpur

This day stated early- we were up at 5am headed to the airport. We are now carting a rather large box with a painting in it and we have checked it as luggage. But we were a little worried about how it was going to go on the plane so we got there early. Out plane boarded at 8:50am. It was a 3.5hr flight plus add an hour to time chnage. We arrived in Kulala Lumpur at 1:00pm. It was already a long day. Then we made the biggest mistake o our whole trip. We didn't get a taxi to the hotel. Bill knew the airport was an hour outside the city. But really how bad could the public transportation be. We fist took a bus, then a bullet train, then a subway and then a monorail. On the monorail we passed our hotel by one stop. So we had to walk a few blocks back to the hotel. It took us 3hrs+ to get to our hotel. By that time I was so fed up with KL that I did not care to see the city. People were rude, pushy and not helpful.
Finally we walk into our hotel. Check in was at 2 pm. At this point it is 4:45pm. They tell us they need another 30mins to get our room ready. I was beyond upset. Really!!! All I wanted to do was sit in the AC and rest.
So Bill kindly guided me across the street l feed me while we waited for our room. We had spotted a Papa Johns Pizza- a taste of home might make things better. It was the worst service ever- but good pizza. Bill got a little taste of what he is calling pahangry=pain+hunger+anger.
After eating we were able to check into our room. We rested for about 30 mins and I freshened up my looks an my attitude and we set out to explore the city. Bill choose Little India because it was a short walking trail and he thought we could get a late dinner.
When we arrived in little India we had a perfect view of the KL Tower.

We walked around to see the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the Merdeka Square. The  architecture is so different in this area.
Here is the flag.
This is what the manhole covers look like.
This is another flag outside the KL city gallery.
We then walked through the central market and did some shopping. When we walked out the sultan's building was all lit up at night.
Finally we set out for dinner. Our hotel does not have free wifi so we stopped at a McDonalds and used there wifi.
We found a spot near us called Changkat Bukit Bintang full of nice restaurants with outdoor seating. We had a cabby drop us off and we enjoyed a late dinner sitting outside enjoying the nice weather and people watching.
KL had a rough start for us, but we finished strong for the night. I hope tomorrow is better!
