Today was a gloomy, cool Sunday. But that was not going to stop our plans. We invited Beth and Dave over to plan our Thanksgiving Hong Kong trip. After our planning session, we set out to see some new parts of of Okinawa. First we headed out to what we fondly refer to as Dave's World. Dave pointed this world observatory a few months ago. He could see it every time he flew in to Futenema. So we set out to find the world. When we arrived, after a few wrong turns, we found out that it is a sight of one of the most bloodiest battles on Okinawa. It is a memorial for peace.
There are several caves that the Japanese used to hold a force. It was amazing to see bullet holes in the concrete bunkers. These sights always are humbling.
After exploring that park we headed over to a roller slide park we have been wanting to check out. The roller slide park was huge and of course we parked on the opposite side of the park from the roller slide. The park was beautiful, full of caves and wondering paths.
Finally we made it to the roller slide. Well worth the hike. On our way back to the car we came across a chicken. At first everyone thought I was seeing things. But as we rounded the side of a bridge, there was a chicken. So weird.
After our outdoor adventures we went to DFS mall. We had a gourmet food court dinner and walked through all the high priced stores.
Great day, even if it is gloomy and rainy.
