We leave tomorrow...

It is nothing like leaving all the details to the last minute. I was a headless chicken this past week, getting lost in the smallest of details that take up so much time! Also, As of Wednesday of this past week I had a ticket, but it violated Japanese import laws with my cat. I know, your saying..WHAT?

So, the military travel agency booked my ticket with a 26 hr lay over after a 14 hr flight. YUCK! Could you imagine. Well, there are rules about how long my cat could stay in Tokyo. Because that was not my final destination, I had to leave in less than 24 hrs.

Well the less than sincere corporal told me that the plan was for me to walk up to the ticket counter and try to get on the flight with my husband. We were on different flights. One big problem....he was flying out of a different airport, and I am flying with a cat. You can't just walk up to a ticket counter with a pet and get on a plane, there is lots of planing involved, but the corporal did not care.

So I took matters into my own hands and called the travel agency. With in 24hrs I had a different flight and was confirmed with a pet all the way through to Okinawa. I must thank you all for paying your taxes, because the military used them to book my one way flight, it only cost $3150. That does not include my cats flight, I have to pay for his flight, $125.

On Friday Bill graduated from the Naval Justice School and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. His parents came in for the occasion. It was nice to see all the friends we had made over the 10 weeks graduate and see 23 out of 54 be promoted.

Over the weekend we toured Newport with Bill's parents and Alexis' parents (an NJS friend). We showed them all the highlights of living in our little resort town.

I found out late Friday that I was missing an original of a document that I need to get Degas in to Japan, so I had to work frantically to get that overnighted to me with Saturday delivery. I feel like this whole adventure has been frought with last minute emergencies. But I got the document, and he is good to go.

This morning we moved from Newport to Providence and are waiting to catch our flight. We fly out tomorrow at 9:50am. We will fly from Providence to Dulles, Dulles to Tokyo, Tokyo to Okinawa. We will arrive in Okinawa at 8:30pm on Tuesday, or 6am CST. (Easy way to convert time...subtract 2 and change the am to a pm or vice verse, we will always be a day ahead of you...if your in the CST)

Next time I blog, we will be in Japan..until then-Wish us Luck!
